The Barbie iPod dock: yes, it's pink and flowery
One man's idea of hell is another 10 year old girl's idea of heaven: in this case the difference of opinion is a Barbie iPod dock / FM radio / alarm clock so pink we could puke. We gotta say though, the flowery speaker enclosures are pretty well done, and the extremely out of place model number -- officially, this is the BAR710 -- is worth a few chuckles. Desperate parents everywhere will no doubt be shelling out for one of these very soon as the empty wallet season rapidly approaches: even if there was information about pricing, you wouldn't want to know, right?

I hope the Chinese are smart enough to not to recreate something like this. Yeah, I'm talking to you, Meizu.

I doubt anyone who has an iPod is still stuck on Barbie. Either that or they are a spoiled rich 6 year old.

Ah, I hope the buttons are small and easy to remove and swallow, in the good ol' tradition of Barbie.

This is a stupid product because it continues the socialization of girls through color.
Girls didn't ask for a pink Bose Sounddock when they purchased them with ipods years ago.
Girls don't go for pink Ipod covers.
Girls are just as likely to buy a white/black or blue device as boys are so STOP the sexist design strategies.
This is no better than making every female video game character, pink/purple and always with huge breasts.
Sam @ Oct 21st 2007 1:25PM
actually... i used to work at 2 different large unnamed electronic retailers... the girls walk in and say "oh look at that pink one", regardless of what it is, how much it sucks, or how overpriced it is. Many girls, are not as likely to buy a black whatever if there is a pink option. Quit with the overly politically correct act, its old and tired.

Whether you like it or not, Barbie was a cultural revolution. And pink is the signature color. It would be ridiculous to make a Barbie item without using the color pink...as ridiculous as making a Kermit dock with no green. And plenty of people who are not 6 years old or spoiled rich bitches like Barbie. There are plenty of people, myself included, who like Barbie because of the history behind it and because she is a fierce character. Barbie has encompassed nearly every occupation and dont it alone, without a man at her side. Ken was not released until 1961, 3 years after Barbie. The only Barbie doll to ever be married is Midgie, I think.
So before you say that Barbie is no better than video game vixens (who, I mean come on, despite the wardrobe kick serious ass), maybe you should learn a little more about the 50 year history of the doll that you so obviously do not understand. In fact, in the spirit of feminism and being PC, I would venture to say that Barbie is the ultimate symbol of feminist pride. The only demeaning thing that is associated with Barbie is the attitudes of the uninformed.
