Microsoft: fuel cell rechargers for giveaways, not for Zunes
Well, it was a sweet dream while it lasted. Crushing our brief hopes of a fuel cell recharger for upcoming Zune models, a Microsoft spokesperson has come forward to clarify that the "small amount" of branded units purchased from Medis Technologies will be used as promotional giveaways at an upcoming event, and will not be joining the social any time soon. In fact, the company has no plans to sell fuel cell products at all, which pretty much rules out that hydrogen-powered laser mouse we've been fantasizing about. Oh well, we've been waiting for these magical power sources to get commercialized for so many years now, we can surely hold out a lot longer than this.[Via PMP Today]

Is it actually possible to purchase a Medis fuel cell charger anywhere?
(Yes, I looked.)

The customer service for the Zune sucks! I called because the battery for my Zune was not charging and they told me I was going to get my same Zune back and all my music. I got a diffrentone back and it was scrached. I was reassured that I was gonig to get my music back and when I recived the Zune back it wasn't the one i sent back in and all my music was gone. I called and talked to a supervisor and they told me the coustomer service guys should have never told me i was going to get my Zune and the music back. I'm going to sell the zune now when they give me another replacement. I think they should be on the same page with that kind of stuff.

Hey, as much as you don't like your Zune, this has nothing to do with the article. If you don't like the Zune service, then okay, post it on a blog or something. But don't post it on Engadget. I've had problems before with apple's customer service for the ipod, yet you don't see me complaining on ipod posts. There is a time and place for everything. An article about a Zune rumor squashed, isn't a place to put a comment about bad Zune service. Sorry, just had to say that.

well no one really asked you

There's a lot of people that don't want your post under this article. Back your music up on your computer and quit crying.

daliminator2000 @ Apr 18th 2007 1:34AM
susan, I think most people would agree with michael. That post was simply irrelevant. Sorry.

Fools, all of you! I have already patented "Fuel cell based device for delivery of power through pre-existing electrical conduits". You all owe me millions! I intend on investing your money in Vonage. Mwa-ha-ha!

How many votes for Susan working in sales for a computer related consumer products manufacturer?
I hate propaganda.
susan @ Apr 18th 2007 1:39PM
and you have to remember i was assured i was going to have everything back on it. so i never thought that maybe one day i might have to back my music up. and i only had the zune for 2 weeks. so before you try to "give me advice" maybe you should think about the whole situation.
