If MS Zune player was thin and the iPod was thick, would you say the iPod felt better because it's heavier?

About the navigation:
I said this before, people are used to the scrollwheel (button), and find in superior to many other DAPs. When you have a product that looks like the scrollwheel but is really not, it tend to frustrate the user, especially if that user used an iPod.
