Logitec announces line of colorful in-car DAPs
Japanese manufacturer Logitec -- who, as we found out the hard way, is in no way related to the American Swiss firm Logitech -- has just announced a colorful set of in-car DAPs that plug directly into your vehicle's lighter socket. What's more, the MP3- and WMA-capable LAT-FM300U includes both a built-in FM transmitter and line-in jack, so you can broadcast directly to your head unit from either the device itself or from an external player like an iPod. And judging by the $68 price tag and lack of storage information, it sounds like you'll probably need to bring along a more capacious device on trips lasting longer than an hour or so, as we doubt you'll be getting more than 512MB of flash memory when these drop in early August.

Japanese / American !?
Well, the "American firm Logitech" is actually a Swiss company with a large American subsidiary...

^^^ Thank you I was just about to say. Everything is not American.
BTW, he was saying that Logitec is Japanese note the spelling difference. Logitech is in fact Swiss.

looks like a USB host port on it, probably doens't have any on board storage at all.

There's a company (VR3) that makes the same thing.
I bought one of their units at Target for $30.
No onboard storage, you use usb flash drives, It supports
mp3, wma, has a line in jack with custom cable that
fits most devices with the 1/8" mini stereo plug.
Also built in FM transmitter.
see old engadget article about it - LOL

FM transmitter units SUCK. WTF are people doing still buying that crap? honestly, FM radio is bad it's hard to believe people put up with that. Either use a line-in aux port or install one in your car.
FM transmitters...blech.

You can get this at RM40 (approx USD10) from Malaysia. China made.
No onboard storage, you can plug in your thumbdrive.

A quick google will find you a VR3, VR7, VR8 and VR9, all with USB and line in, the latter with shuffle, memory, SD slot and ID3-tag display.
Just got a VR9 for 30 quid, which is about 50USD.
Check on ebay.

I'm surprised that they got away with the name. The first time I read this I thought it was Logitech.
